What Avengers: Age of Ultron Trailer 2 Tells Us

The Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer 2 has given us a greater idea on what type of film we should expect, through a closer look into the trailer it becomes pretty clear what the overall direction of Age of Ultron will be. So lets discuss The Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer 2. (Potential spoilers follow)

From the first Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer we saw that the overall tone of the film seemed a lot darker compared to the first Avengers film. The second trailer further instilled this notion. The colour palette is darker, the music is slow (and super creepy) and the first shot of the trailer is of chaos and people dying.

We then hear from good old Iron Man, who seems to be the root of all this Ultron craziness. He says “this vulnerable world needs something more powerful than any of us”. So clearly Iron Man doesn’t think The Avengers are enough to protect the world. We saw in Iron Man 3 he was suffering PTSD after the events of New York, so his method of coping with all that he and his team went through is to build something along the lines of Ultron that can help them out. It’s like the classic case of the misguided genius scientist who thinks he is saving the world but then ends up turning everyone into zombies or something like that.

We hear “Everyone creates the thing they dread” and then cut to a broken Iron Man suit. It’s pretty obvious Age of Ultron will be deeply exploring the personal inner struggles of all the Avengers.

This theme will probably be explored the most with Iron Man and Hulk. In the final shots of the trailer we see a very small part of the epic Hulk vs Hulkbuster fight. We see Hulk squish cops with a car and for a small glimpse get a look at his red eyes. The theory is that Scarlet Witch is controlling Hulk, causing his massive freak out. This lack of control will further deepen the friction between Bruce Banner and his other side, the Hulk.

Again this makes us believe that The Avengers: Age of Ultron will be laying the groundwork for Black Panther. Even though we don’t know who Andy Serkis is playing, it seems like he will be playing Ulysses Klaw. And that mysterious woman seems like she is from Wakanda as she has tribal paint on that looks like the Wakandans from the comics. Right now it looks like Ultron may go to Wakanda to get Vibranium which will probably prove very useful to him, which will introduce us to Black Panther’s world.

We’ve heard Black Widow talk about being “unmade” in the first movie, so Age of Ultron may be giving us insight into what she really meant when she said that. Black Widow is supposed to be super-human with greater endurance, strength etc. Age of Ultron could be showing us the experiments that got her there.

But what did you think of trailer 2 of Avengers: Age of Ultron? Anything else you picked up from the trailer? Let me know!

    • Oh yeah, I thought maybe the 2nd trailer will be a little lighter because the first one was so dark, but looks like the film will just be a lot darker which is okay.
